North to Alaska: Day 5: Pender Harbour to Squirrel Cove

Day 5 (2022-05-06): Pender Harbour to Squirrel Cove. Six hours and approximately 50-miles. Beautiful bluebird day conditions were perfect — calm water and just the slightest breeze as compared to the brutal crossing the Strait of Georgia on Day 4.

We are using Ports and Passes to prepare for tomorrow. We think we understand how to read and use it. We hope to make it through five rapids tomorrow: Yuculta, Gillard, Dent, Whirlpool, and Greene Point. We “think” based on our understanding the currents are favorable and we understand the timeframe we have to get the Benwa through. We will need luck on this one.
